Prices moved both ways on the commodities wholesale markets during the week ended on January 26, 2008, major items being Canadian yellow peas, guwar, wheat, Irri 6 Sindh etc.
DYES SHOWED SOME VARIATIONS AS UNDER: Sulphur dyes China: (per pound) Sulphur 501 quoted at Rs 32, Blue BRN closed higher by Rs 3 to Rs 95, Brown GDR gained Rs 2 to Rs 56, Olive rose by Rs 5 to Rs 60, yellow GR up by Rs 2 to Rs 62. Sulphur Blue Green was quoted at Rs 82. Sulphur Borleux 3B retreated with Rs 5 loss to Rs 90 and Sulphur black 522 moved higher by Rs 6 to Rs 38.
Elsewhere cottonseed oilcake with bags better type rose by Rs 70 to Rs 580, while low type was seen put at Rs 500. Cotton cakes with bag Sindh old inferior type rose by Rs 30 to Rs 550 while the better one was unchanged at Rs 600. Sugar declined by Rs 30 to Rs 2280 and better one was marked at Rs 2350. Irri Sindh 6 low type was up Rs 20 to Rs 2130 while the better one was seen higher by Rs 30 to Rs 2150.
On Saturday rice and pulses prices were sharply higher Irri-9 Sindh gained sharply by Rs 200 to Rs 3100-3200, Irri-6 Sindh picked up Rs 200 to Rs 3100-3200.A solo change was seen as Bajra low type lost Rs 60 to Rs 1600 and good type was down by Rs 50 Rs 2150 On the cereal side, masoor from Australia gained Rs 300 to Rs 5400 and masoor from Canada gained the same amount at Rs 5400.
Masoor dall low type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 6100 and better type was higher by Rs 200 to Rs 6300. Wheat old and new both types fell steeply by Rs 200 to Rs 1500 and 1515. On the seed side, rapeseeds Nawabshah was up by Rs 50 to Rs 1725-1750.
On Tuesday sharp rise was marked in Canadian yellow peas which recorded a gain of Rs 125 to Rs 3000 while better one was seen at Rs 3150. Yellow peas dal from Canada rose by same amount to Rs 3250 and the other type touched the high of Rs 3400. Cottonseed cakes from Punjab low type lost Rs 20 to Rs 480 while the other was down by Rs 80 to Rs 500.
ON WEDNESDAY CHEMICALS ON JODIA BAZAR SHOWED SOME CHANGES MOVING BOTH WAYS: (per kg) caustic soda flakes Saudi gained Rs 2 to Rs 45. Formic acid Pak retreated by Rs 2 to Rs 77, formic acid Germany's retreated by Rs 2 to Rs 88. Oxalic acid from China moved downward by Rs 2 to Rs 78. Sulphonic acid soft rose sharply by Rs 11 to Rs 110. PVA Japan was down by Rs 2 to Rs 196. Sitara Caustic soda flakes scaled higher by Rs 3 to Rs 44 and caustic soda Taiwan moved down by Rs 3 to Rs 45.
Hydrsulphite China 88pc rose by Rs 1.50 to Rs 74.50, Acetic acid Taiwan shed Rs 2 to Rs 88 and Korea was quoted at Rs 83.60. Elsewhere wheat old and new with Bardana rose sharply by Rs 100 to Rs 1600 while other was seen at Rs 1615. Guwar from Sindh rose by Rs 25 to Rs 2000, while the other stayed put at Rs 1850, Irri 6 Sindh low type shed Rs 5 to Rs 2125, while better type was lower by Rs 10 to Rs 2140.
On Thursday Tea prices rose world wide (Per Kg) Kenyan PF-1 A grade scaled higher by Rs 33 to Rs 220, B grade rose by Rs 39 to Rs 209, plus C grade up Rs 30 to Rs 190, and C grade moved higher by Rs 14 to Rs 169. BP-1 A-1 grade leaped higher by Rs 10 to Rs 230, B grade up Rs 5 to Rs 210, plus C grade rose by same amount to Rs 205, and C grade gained Rs 15 to Rs 200. D-1 A grade up by same amount to Rs 225, B grade rose by Rs 10 to Rs 200, plus C grade up Rs 10 to Rs 185 and C grade up Rs 10 to Rs 175.
Grain markets ended steadier wheat added further Rs 100 to Rs 1700, while better kind was seen at Rs 1715. Gur better type up Rs 150 to Rs 2400, inferior one was unchanged. Khandsari up Rs 100 to Rs 3400. Rapeseed Mirpure up sharply by Rs 200 to Rs 1800, inferior one was quoted at Rs 1575. Til gained sharply by Rs 250 to Rs 3250 and better one was quoted at Rs 3425. Gram garda Punjab low kind shed Rs 25 to Rs 2925, while better type shed Rs 50 to Rs 3075. Gram dal Punjab down Rs 50 to Rs 3700 while the other type was quoted at Rs 3800. Yellow peas Canada shed Rs 25 to Rs 2975 and better one was seen at Rs 3125, yellow peas dal Canada low type shed Rs 25 to Rs 3225 better type was down Rs 50 to 3350. Beetle chana I shed Rs 25 to Rs 3125 and better was quoted at Rs 3275, 50x50 low type was weaker by Rs 25 to Rs 3025, and better type shed Rs 50 to Rs 3150. Bajra shed Rs 50 to Rs 1750 and better type was seen at Rs 2200.
On Friday no noticeable change took place, being a normal lean day, it is said.
KENYAN TEA (PER KG): PF-1 A grade finished up by Rs 33 at Rs 220, B grade closed higher by Rs 39 at Rs 209, plus C grade finished up by Rs 30 at Rs 190 and C grade edged higher by Rs 14 at Rs 169.
BP-1: A-1 grade moved upward by Rs 10 at Rs 230, B grade went up by Rs 5 at Rs 210, plus C grade went higher by Rs 5 at Rs 205 and C grade edged up by Rs 15 at Rs 200.
D-1: A grade finished higher by Rs 15 at Rs 225, B grade went up by Rs 10 at Rs 200, plus C grade closed upward by Rs 10 at Rs 185 and C grade edged higher by Rs 10 at Rs 175.
RAW RUBBER CEYLON (Per lb): RSSV closed down by Rs 2 at Rs 83 and Pale Crape TPC3 edged higher by Re 1 at Rs 80.
LATEX: Semnan Tex went upward by Rs 15 at Rs 525 and Thai (G.T) moved higher by Rs 15 at Rs 525.
