5,000 sensitive polling stations in Sindh: authorities asked to take extra security steps
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked the concerned authorities to take extra security measures in around 5,000 sensitive polling stations of Sindh in its bid to ensure enabling atmosphere for voters and candidates alike in the ensuing elections.
Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad on Monday told PTV in a brief telephonically discussion that more than normal law enforcers would be deployed in sensitive polling stations aiming to ensure the sanctity of the polling process.
He said there are around 13,400 polling stations in Sindh province, out of which 5,000 have been declared as sensitive in consultation with the provincial authorities.
Provincial governments as well as federal government are responsible for maintaining law and order in their respective areas. The main purpose behind declaring some polling stations as sensitive was to take extra security measures and deploy more force there to ensure peaceful atmosphere for voters as well as candidates.
