The president of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Mohammad Ali Mian, has urged the government to allocate a piece of land to the goods transporters along side the highways outside of each district, as this would help expedite transportation of goods on the one hand while decrease traffic congestion on the city road on the other.
He said the associations and chambers concerned should be involved while allocating space at these trucks "Addas" so only genuine transporters could avail the facility.
The LCCI chief was talking to a six-member delegation of the Pakistan Goods Transporters Association headed by its President Chaudhry Mukhtar Ahmad. Mohammad Ali Mian also demanded of the government to establish driving institutions as the whole cargo sector was hit for non-availability of educated and trained drivers.
He said that educated and trained drivers are necessary as the world has now become a global village and country''s transport sector can not work in isolation. Earlier, Mukhtar Ahmad briefed the LCCI office-bearers about the goods transportation situation in the country.
