Indus Motor Company (IMC) organised career days for graduating students of the Toyota Technical Educational Programme (T-TEP) in Karachi and Lahore, at St. Patrick's Institute of Science and Technology and at Government College of Technology respectively.
A total of 45 students were recruited for employment in Indus Motor Company, the nation wide Toyota dealership network and vendors. Sindh Board of Technical Education Chairman Professor Dr Khalil Ahmed Khan was the chief guest at the ceremony held in Karachi, whereas University of Engineering and Technology Vice Chancellor Lieutenant General M. Akram Khan (Retd) in Lahore.
Other participants included representatives from the automobile industry, academicians, automobile vendors, dealers and representatives of Indus Motor Company and Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan.
The chief guests lauded the efforts of IMC and Toyota Motor Corporation, saying that T-TEP had worked to bridge the gap between industry and technical education. They were glad to see that the programme served the community, and worked beyond commercial consideration. To date, several hundred T-TEP students have graduated and found jobs in Pakistan.
IMC Chief Executive Officer Parvez Ghias appreciated the role of both institutions in collaborating with IMC, adding: "IMC has initiated T-TEP in Pakistan based on our support of Toyota's two pillars - Respect for people and Kaizen (continuous improvement).
"As a good corporate citizen, IMC participates in a number of educational initiatives in continuous learning, both on the job as well as in educational institutions. "The Company allocates one-percent of profit before tax each year for CSR. IMC's initiatives in education include providing assistance to over 20 educational institutions as well as 50 scholarships to professional students.
"IMC's Apprenticeship Training Programme continues to develop high quality technicians with over 700 apprentices inducted into the company. The Company has also initiated an 'Engineering Students Design Competition' for the development of Robotics in Pakistan linking the creativity of young engineers with the industry.
"The Toyota Technical Education Programme is a global initiative, which was introduced in Pakistan six years ago. Toyota Motor Corporation supported IMC in this very successful training program, in which automobile diploma holders are provided advanced training in the latest automobile technology".-PR
