Wapda Member (Power) Fazal Ahmad and General Manager (Power) could not attend the meeting held here on Sunday at Wapda House, and presided over by Minister for Water and Power Tariq Hameed. It is pertinent to mention that these two officials were busy at the Chashma power house to look after the repairs and maintenance work in District Mianwali.
It is also pertinent to mention that Chashma power plant was shut down after water had seeped into the power turbines of 8 units due to severe negligence of the Wapda staff.
The Chashma power plant is still non-operational and Wapda is facing 87MW more shortfall besides 1800MW. The Chashma power plant was constructed at a cost of Rs 17 billion with the collaboration of China.
