Caretaker chief minister Sindh, former justice Abdul Qadir Halepota has said that heavy contingents of rangers and police will be deputed at the sensitive places on the polling day and there will be zero tolerance in the larger interest of peace and safety to life and property of the people.
He was informally talking to newsmen on Monday at the Iranian Consulate, where he had come to facilitate Counsel General of Iran Masoud Mohammad Zamani on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of Islamic Revolution of Iran.
Zamani arranged a reception to celebrate the event. A large number of diplomats, elite of the city, leading political leaders of different parties, members of the business community and religious scholars of different school of thoughts attended the reception.
Halepota said that if needed army would be available to provide support to police and rangers. He said that sensitive polling stations have been identified and staff have been alerted to remain cautious on the polling day and even after the polling was over.
The chief minister said that katcha areas were under strict vigilance and there should not be any doubt about the good intentions of the government. There would not be any hanky panky at these stations, he assured.
All political parties having candidates in Katcha, arid zone and desert areas would be provided protection and all possible measures would be adopted to conduct polling in peaceful manner.
He said there should be no misunderstanding or doubt about the intention of the government that it would tolerate unlawful activity or permit lawlessness. Earlier, Halepota congratulate Zamani, and through him the people of Iran on the 29th anniversary of revolution. He expressed the hope that bilateral relations of the two countries will further strengthen.
