Three dacoits were on Thursday killed and one police constable sustained serious injuries in encounter with police when a gang of six dacoits tried to escape after looting cash and gold ornaments worth millions of rupees from the National Bank of Pakistan Chakwal branch near Samundri.
The encounter place near Chak 35-GB in Satiana police station area. According to details, a gang of six dacoits entered the National Bank of Pakistan Chakwal branch near Samundri. The dacoits held the bank staff at gunpoint and collected about one million rupees cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 10 million from the counters and tried to escape from the scene in a car without number plate.
While the dacoits were busy in collecting cash and gold ornaments, a bank employee switched on emergency sirens, which panicked the fleeing dacoits, who started indiscriminate firing, injuring two bank guards. After hearing the emergency alarm, two police mobiles of Samundri and Satiana police stations rushed to the spot and chased the dacoits.
On seeing the police mobiles, the dacoits opened indiscriminate firing, hitting one police constable Javed Anwar, but the police encircled the car of the dacoits in village Chak 35-GB. During encounter, three unknown dacoits were killed on the spot, while three others managed to escape along with the booty, leaving behind cash of Rs 800, 000, gold ornaments worth Rs 10 million and without number plate car.
Police have registered a case against unknown dacoits and are making efforts to rreach out three other dacoits. Injured police constable Javed Anwar was shifted to Allied Hospital Faisalabad, while the bank guards were admitted to Samundri hospital. In another incident, police have arrested two dacoits and investigation is in progress.
