Captain Imran Usman and Captain Sohail Baluch were elected president and vice-president respectively of Pakistan Airlines Pilots' Association (PALPA) at the annual general meeting held here on Wednesday. The annual general meeting and the general elections of PALPA for the year 2008-2010 were held at PALPA Club House on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by active as well as the retired/medically grounded pilots. Over 96 percent of the members cast their votes in the elections. Other office-bearers elected include F/O Arif Majeed as General Secretary, F/O Sohail Ahmed as Joint Secretary-I, Captain T M Rabbani as Joint Secretary-II, F/O Zahid as Joint Secretary-III and Captain Sadiq Rehman as Treasurer.
Following were elected as the members of the Executive Committee of PALPA: Captain Aitzaz, Captain Murad Arbab, F/O M Khalid, Captain Aziz-ur-Rehman, F/O Babar Zaheer, Captain Tanvir and F/O Aurangzeb Khan. While Captain Shahid Ali and Captain Zubair Subhani were elected unopposed as the retired members of the committee respectively.
The outgoing president Captain Khalid Hamza took oath of office from the newly elected executive committee. While the General Secretary, F/O Arif Majeed briefed the annual general meeting.
The outgoing president, Captain Khalid Hamza apprised the AGM about the negotiations with the Management and other related matters. He requested the House for its unconditional support to the newly elected president and the executive committee.
He also thanked the Election Committee for devoting its valuable time in conducting the elections. The President PALPA, Captain Imran Usman, emphasised dignity of the association. He assured members that PALPA, as a welfare and professional body would continue striving for the benefit and betterment of the members.
