A large number of activists of Awami Tehreek (AT) here on Sunday staged a protest demonstration outside local press club against a possible coalition between Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to form the government in Sindh province.
Addressing the protesters, the leaders including Abdul Hakim Halepota, Noor Muhammad Panhwar and others said that 40 million people had given mandate to the PPP and it should not seek help from those forces who were behind May 12 and October 18 tragedies. They charged that the policies of MQM are against the interests of people of Sindh province.
The AT leaders said if the PPP had fear that its government could not run without the help of MQM, then it should know that the people of Sindh would protect its government. They also demanded restoration of judiciary and withdrawal of curbs on media.
