Most of medical stores, chemists and retailers shut their business here on Wednesday at the call of Punjab Chemists Council to protest against the new Drugs Rules 2007, with the result that patients faced severe problems in getting their medicine in hospitals.
Addressing a joint meeting of chemists and druggist, Ikhlaq Ahmad, President, Pakistan Wholesale Chemists Association, Faisalabad, said that it was united struggle against the common goal of revocation of the Drugs Rules 2007.
He said that Drugs Rules 2007 were an amalgamation of violations of law, of Constitution, of Drugs Act 1976 and of Pharmacy Act 1967. The Association will wait till formation of the new government and give sufficient time to respond for resolving the issue of the enforcement of controversial Drugs Rules 2007, he said, adding that if the government would not give a positive response, then the PCRA would start a series of strikes and protests on March 9, 2008. He appealed to the wholesalers of drugs to join hands with the Council and form a joint strategy to achieve the desired results.
