Tenders for 30 development projects worth millions of rupees for Sukkur city have been rejected for third consecutive time. Project Director (PD) Ghulam Asghar Wagan said tenders were called from contractors.
According to the Public Procurement Rules Authority (PPRA) but 90 percent contractors did not come up to the requirements of PPRA, therefore the tenders were rejected and would be re-issued. He further said PPRA-2004 requires the contractor to be registered with the Pakistan Engineering Council.
He said the development works would be carried out in a planned way by keeping in view the quality of work to fully utilise the huge funds, allocated by Sindh government. If in future no contractor fulfilled the requirement of PPRA, then the Sindh government would be informed in writing to resolve the issue, he added.
Following efforts made by Taluka Council Sukkur, the Governor and the government of Sindh had allocated Rs 250 million in first phase as part of Rs 500 million for 30 mega projects, including construction ofroads, drainage and water supply schemes, and renovation of parks.
