Former foreign minister and PML-Q central vice president Barrister Mian Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri has said that 80 percent people have rejected President Musharraf in the election and asked him to resign. Talking to NNI, he said 58 (2-B) should be repealed and Chaudhry brothers be made accountable on waiving off loans.
"During the present circumstances formation of national government is in the larger interest of the country as such a consensus government can easily overcome the crisis and problems", he said. He said more than 80 percent population wants resignation of Pervez Musharraf and US is also giving impression that it is ready to work with any government.
"Chaudhrys besides condoning off loans, spent billions of rupees on election campaign and the nation wants to know what is the source of this huge amount and they should be made accountable", Khurshid Kasuri said. He said their property should be auctioned and confiscated and each and every penny should be received from them.
To a question, he said he admits his defeat and said in the past their government took some important decision without taking the nation into confidence. He said some secret hands were also involved in his defeat. He said Nawaz Sharif should be allowed to contest the election, which will not only increase the country's image internationally, but promote the democratic traditions.
The former foreign minister asked the newly elected representatives of the National Assembly to reduce the power of President, and annul 58 (2-B) for the restoration of full democracy. He said during the past five years record development projects have been completed in his constituencies.
He said Expressway from Lahore to Ganda Singh has been constructed and after the opening of border with India, the industrial zones will be established on both sizes of the road thus providing the jobs to the people. He said gas has been provided to almost all the areas in his constituencies.
