The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has warned President Pervez Musharraf and his associates to abstain from conspiring against democracy and let the power be transferred to the elected public representatives.
The party's Punjab President Zulifqar Ali Khosa, accompanied by MNA-elec Saad Rafique, told reporters on Saturday that an assembly session might be called in the next week. Rafique said that negative tactics were being used to stop the induction of his party's government in Punjab.
"We are bringing to notice of the nation, sensitive organisations and conscious sections of society that President Musharraf is not refraining himself from hatching conspiracies against democracy," he said. "We will foil all attempts to provide oxygen to the Q-League, which is near its end."
He said that his party reserved the right to take legal and constitutional action if the President refused to stop his dirty politics. He also claimed that 15 to 20 National Assembly seats of the party were cunningly stolen but his party had accepted the results for democracy's sake.
He said his party would support the PPP in the Centre but never accept ministries because his party legislators never considered President Musharraf a constitutional president. "So we will not take oath from him," he added.
Khosa said his party was least concerned with a forward bloc. "There were cracks within the Q-League, which led to the formation of the forward bloc. The PML-N has not even contacted a single Q-League MPA-elect for support," he said.
