A representative delegation of Defence Society Residents Associations visited the project site at Beach Avenue DHA here on Monday, where the project consultant gave them an in-depth briefing on the development of a new Storm Water Drainage System in DHA. The project for making a modern drainage system for DHA was initiated after the devastating monsoon rains last year.
A sum of Rs 7.5 million has been earmarked for the phase-I of the project, which will be completed by July 31 before the advent of monsoon season. The entire drainage project would be completed in three-four years while essential infrastructure, which could take rainwater would be completed before the month of July. The work on construction of three main trunk drains (MTDs) on Khayaban-e-Shamsheer, Khayaban-e-Sehar and 'E' street, commenced in December 2007, will be completed before the coming monsoons. The work on three more MTDs, being constructed on Fifth Street and Khayaban-e-Muhaffiz in DHA, will also commence shortly.
Simultaneously the work on upgrading and reinforcement of sewerage system in DHA is also being carried out. The work includes revamping pump stations/pumping machines and cleaning/desilting of sewerage line/manholes. The delegation appreciated the quality of work and design parameters of the project.-PR
