Principal of National College of Arts Professor Naazish Ataullah has urged the government and planning authorities to think in a broaden perspective and apply out-of-the-box strategies for the bright future of the city. She expressed her views while opening the exhibition organised by Office for Conservation and Community Outreach at NCA Gallery on Wednesday.
The exhibition has focused on highlighting the issues of urban growth, is open between 9am to 5pm, which will continue till March 11. In the exhibition three urban designers, including Attiq Ahmed, Moeez Hassan Nawab and Ayesha Sarfraz.have exhibited their creative works. Director Ahmed said he displayed 24-computer design regarding regional architecture and sustainable urban growth in Hunza Valley. He said that his thesis assessed the impact of the Karakoram Highway on the regional architecture of the valley and how this was affecting life styles.
The works shown by his students Moeez Hasan Nawab and Ayesha Sarfraz are based in Lahore's historic colonial areas of Mall Road and Lakshmi Chowk. "Looking at factors of urban degeneration and studying the existing land use and social networks of these areas in detail the project proposals are both futuristic and provocative," he added.
