Brazil exported 1.85 million 60-kg bags of green coffee in February, down 2.8 percent from 1.90 million bags shipped a year ago, the Council of Green Coffee Exporters said Thursday. Brazil shipped 1.94 million bags of coffee in January.
February shipments included 1.82 million bags of arabica beans, down 3.5 percent from 1.89 million bags a year ago. Robusta exports fell 69.6 percent to 31,034 bags from 18,303 bags a year ago.
Brazil's total coffee exports (green, soluble and roasted) are seen at 27 million bags in 2008, which would be down 4 percent from the 28.1 million bags shipped in 2007, Cecafe said recently.
