The Government of Japan has granted financial support of US $79,281 under the GGP (Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects) programme to Dara Foundation, a non-governmental organisation for the project 'Improvement of Infrastructure of Primary and Middle Schools for Girls Khar Gharbi, District Muzaffargarh, Punjab'.
The agreement for the project was signed here on Thursday between Seiji Kojima, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan and Asma Ramday, Dara Foundation at Japanese Ambassador's residence.
The grant would be utilised for the construction of school building with 5 class rooms, 2 staff rooms, 1 warehouse and 6 toilets. The school-girls of the area would be provided better facilities and suitable environment for education.
The planned permanent school building would provide comfortable, tranquil and safe conditioned to additional 86 schoolgirls who were denied admission due to the low capacity of school in a residential building.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kojima said that the government of Japan gave priority to the education and human resource development sector and it had been extending Japanese Official Development Assistance to help Pakistani schoolgirls receive primary and secondary education. He also said that the project would contribute to the human resource development of Pakistan and further strengthen the already existing friendly ties between the people of both the countries.
