The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has drafted a proposal to introduce subject of taxation at the school and college levels to educate the young generation on the basic concepts of taxes in Pakistan.
Sources told Business Recorder on Thursday that the FBR has issued instructions to FBR Member Human Resource Management Muhammad Talha and Member Facilitation and Taxpayer Education Khawar Khurshid Butt to send the proposal to the relevant ministers for inclusion of taxation in syllabus at school/college levels.
Sources said that the board would propose to relevant departments like Ministry of Education, Higher Education Commission and others to implement the idea. The proposal is to introduce taxation as a new chapter in the mathematics subject so that the students could learn about the computation of taxation at the secondary and college levels.
The basic concept of federal and provincial taxes would also be made part of the proposal. Different rates of taxes and their threshold applicable for various categories of taxpayers would also be introduced for the students.
