The President of the Supreme Court Bar Association Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan on Saturday challenged the official solicitors including Malik Muhammad Qayyum and Shariffuddin Pirzada to hold a live debate with him on any TV channel.
Addressing a lawyers convention Aitzaz said the debate must be live so that the government agencies should not interrupt it and also power supply must be ensured. He said that he does not reply the decrees which have been issued against him on the charge of calling long march on the eve of Eid Milad.
He blamed the government for its consistent policy of distortion of facts and gave and example of the information minister of Hitler who used to advise him to keep telling a lie as much until the people consider it as truth.
He regretted that deposed chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has been detained for the past couple of months illegally in his house and he is barred to meet anyone.
He said that the government is misleading the people by issuing fabricated and groundless statement about the house-arrest of chief justice and saying that he is not under house arrest and every body is allowed to call on him at his residence.
He said that when a visitor goes to the house of Chief Justice to meet him, he is obstructed two hundred meter far from his residence and the police teargas and baton charge on them and throw water showers to disperse them.
He said that the caretaker information minister Nisar H Memon has stated that chief justice will be released in one month which indicates clearly that he is kept detained.
He lamented that the chief justice and his family members are restricted to come in the lawn of the bungalow and four policemen are deployed at the backdoor of his residence. He said that at present ten deposed judges are captivated in the 'private jails'.He said that the he accepts the public mandates of the political parties and also the Murree declaration.
He said that those who say that one-third parliamentary majority is mandatory for passing the resolution of the restoration of deposed judges actually considers the steps taken by Pervez Musharraf on November as constitutional.
