Sialkot police has launched "Neighbourhood Verification Certificate Scheme" in all four tehsils of Sialkot district, this was disclosed by District Police Officer Sialkot Muhammad Amin. Under the scheme every citizen would be bound to fill the required information mentioned in the pro forma in the district, he said.
Addressing a joint meeting of citizen and elected representatives and union council Nazims held here Tuesday he said that the step has been taken for collecting a data and to check the genuineness of the residents in each locality of Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of the district. This step he said would also supportive to unearth the antisocial elements and suspected persons in the district, he added.
The DPO further informed the house that strict security arrangements were being finalised for Eid-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) in Sialkot district. According to a rough estimate as many as 35 lakh people would celebrate Eid Milad with religious fervour in the district while a procession would be taken out in Sialkot city and police would ensure adequate security on this occasion, he said.
The DPO said that in order to ensure security during the Eid Milad procession it has been decided that all shopping centres, bazaars and shops on the route of the procession would remain closed. Similarly, he advised people not to assemble on top of the roofs during Eid Milad processions in the district, he added.
Muhammad Amin on this occasion appealed to the people that they should keep a vigilant eye on the activities of suspected persons living in their nearby and inform to police station of their respective areas in the district.
He appealed to the Ulema and religious scholars that they should inform the police prior arranging Milad conferences and processions for extending security in the district. District Nazim Sialkot Muhammad Akmal Cheema, District Co-ordination Officer Atta Muhammad Khan and other officers also attended the meeting.
