Lahore Deaf Football Club (LDFC) staged recovery to beat Faisalabad Deaf Football Club 3-2 on penalty-shoot out after 1-1 draw in Lahore Deaf Football Festival 2008 on Tuesday. This is first ever event for deaf footballers on Pakistan soil, currently in progress at Garhi Shahue's Railway Stadium, Lahore.
Faisalabad, under captaincy of Kashif, had to blame themselves for the defeat, as they were the first to score in the 33rd minute through winger Ziaur Rehman. But 10-minute after re-start, midfielder Shahbaz snatched equaliser with solo effort.
It was 1-1 on final whistle. During tiebreaker, Nasim Aslam-led Lahore put up impressive display and won the penalty shoot-out 3-2. The winners struck through Zeeshan, Usman and Sikander while Imtiaz Hussain and Ziaur Rehman replied for the losers.
The chief guest on opening day was Mohsin Latif, MPA-elect while Pakistan Railway's Sports Board (PRSB)'s Rashad Mahmood Butt was also present. Speaking on this occasion, Mohsin praised the efforts of LDFC's secretary general Muhammad Razzaq and organising secretary Tanveer Hussain for launching Deaf Soccer in Pakistan.
Deaf football is increasing day by day around the world and their are currently 25 active deaf football clubs in Great Britain - most of them compete in mainstream football leagues around Britain, he added.
