Local business tycoon and Chief Executive Officer of Ashraf Industries, Ijaz A Khokhar, will receive Sitara-i-Imtiaz on Pakistan Day in recognition of his meritorious services and contribution in the field of textile exports.
Globally known Sialkot-based Ashraf Industries has played its pivotal role in recognition of Pakistan internationally in the field of martial art and by virtue of this Pakistan stands with China, Korea and North America in the production of martial art.
Ashraf Industries has been winning FPCCI 'Best Export Performance Trophy' for the past 20 years consecutively in the recognition of highly valued contribution in the field of textile export. Talking to Business Recorder here on Saturday Ijaz said that the award is in recognition of yeoman and craftsmanship of Sialkot and it would further enhance the prestige of this export-oriented city.
The business community engaged in garment industry is making efforts for producing high quality products to cope with the international market more easily and carry out the 30 percent world-wide consumption. Currently the martial art industry had become key source of foreign exchange earner.
The firm is successfully competing with its Japanese and Taiwanese competitors and maintained its edge in the market by producing quality martial art wears. It was producing uniforms with brand name of "Tochi Gi" which is respected in international markets due to its high quality and standard selection of fabric and strength of material.
Ijaz said that garment industry could increase the exports if the Textile Ministry and Punjab government took steps for setting up 'Garment Village' in Sialkot, because garments sector has great potential in Sialkot.
He said that if the government took steps to set up garment village, according to a rough estimate garments amounting to $90,000 could be produced on daily basis. Besides, it will facilitate the SMEs engaged with industry.
He added that the provision of ready factory buildings to SMEs and vendors on rental basis in the proposed garment village with well-developed physical infrastructure and other support services in the proposed village would increase the exports of garments manifold.
Ijaz Khokar said that there is great need of setting up 'garment training institute', textile laboratory and development centre in this export-oriented city.
He called upon the high ups of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and others concerned that the visit of foreign trade delegations should be ensured to this export-oriented city and hub of cottage industries of the country because Sialkot-Karachi flights are now available. Apart from this business community of Sialkot should be given due representation in Trade Development Authority of Pakistan keeping in view its tremendous export culture he said.
