The Environ-mental Protection Department (EPD) Government of Pakistan will establish an environment analytical laboratory in Faisalabad. According to EPD sources, funds have been allocated for the laboratory with a directive to hire a building sprawling over one kanal of land in fully developed or newly developing areas.
However, in view of its sensitive job, it would be established away from any major source of air pollution, open wastewater drain and dumps of solid waste etc.
'Environment club on card': Environmental Protection Department (EPD) will establish environment clubs in public as well as private schools and colleges to promote awareness about pollution free environment.
Sources mentioned that initially environment club would be established in 10 selected schools in various districts including Faisalabad. These clubs would be consistent of 8 to 10 students of class 8 to 10 in each school to implement their environment-related programs.
Sources said that EPD would give full technical support to these clubs to launch the environment-related program.
