Argentine 2007/08 wheat export commitments stood at 7.047 million tonnes by April 4, showing no movement for weeks, the Agriculture Secretariat said in its latest weekly report. The data corresponds to the wheat harvest that ended in January. Meanwhile, sales of 2006/07 wheat totalled 8.805 million tonnes.
Argentina's government estimates 2007/08 wheat output at 15.4 million tonnes, and the US Department of Agriculture forecasts the country's 2007/08 exports at 9.5 million tonnes. The government has repeatedly delayed the planned reopening of the wheat export registry in a measure aimed at safeguarding domestic supplies.
CORN EXPORTS: Argentine export commitments of 2007/08 corn totalled 8.98 million tonnes by April 4, the Agriculture Secretariat said in its latest weekly report.Meanwhile, sales of 2006/07 corn stood at 14.91 million tonnes. The US Department of Agriculture forecasts the country's 2007/08 harvest at 21.5 million tonnes, with exports of 15 million tonnes.
