A three-member academic delegation of the University of Glasgow United Kingdom visited the GC University Lahore and met with the Vice Chancellor (VC), Professor Dr Khalid Aftab. The meeting discussed academic links between the GCU and Glasgow University on different subjects including Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Industrial Biotechnology and environmental science.
The delegation under the Director Post Graduate Studies at the University of Glasgow, Sharne Procter showed keen interest for academic collaboration in research and training programmes with the respective departments of the GCU.
Professor Dr Khalid Aftab agreed with the proposal and informed the visitors about the ongoing science studies being carried at Lahore University. He apprised the delegation about the various academic links established by the GCU with the number of National and International universities and institutions.
Further, he said that six foreign students are doing their post doctoral studies at the GCU, Abdus Salam School of Mathematical Sciences that has 44 foreign faculty staff members from different countries including US, UK, Germany, France, Ukraine.
The Heads of the different departments and Deans also reported the delegates on research projects in their respective departments and their academic links with well-reputed universities of different countries and research organisations. They discussed in detail various ongoing projects of their departments that are supported by the HEC.
Delegation members, Professor John McGrady of department of Chemistry and Professor Stephen Phillips of the department of Biomedical and Life Sciences informed the VC about the academic working of their departments. At the end of the meeting, the GCU VC presented souvenir to the guest delegates.
