Director of International Trade, Trip Project of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Jonathan Webber has said that BCCI will help Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) to initiate another project in collaboration with on environment.
Speaking at the dissemination ceremony of the Tripak projects, organised by the KCCI at a local hotel on Saturday, he said that the Tripak project was launched about two-and-half years back. The project was funded by European Union (EU) under its programme invest in Asia to upgrade skill of Pakistan workers and staff members of KCCI.
He said that Tripak project was strategic alliance between Karachi, Naples (Italy), Birmingham and Coventry (UK) chambers. He said that under changing environment and World Trade Organisation (WTO), Pakistan needed to improve its workers skill to meet the international standards. Praising the hospitality of Pakistani people, Jonathan Webber said that Pakistan offered a lot of investment opportunities, which might be examined for joint ventures.
He advised the foreign investors to visit Pakistan to explore the investment opportunities. He said that this was his eighth visit to Pakistan, and added that he faced no difficulty while staying in the country.
Former KCCI President of Khalid Feroz said that Tripak project was one of the few projects, funded by the EU, which had been successfully completed. Welcoming the guests, KCCI President Shamim Ahmed Shamsi said that the aim of the project was to upgrade skill of KCCI staff members. He said that under the projects, two staff members were sent abroad for training in e-business. He said that under the project, several workshops and seminars on skill development were organised for chamber members.
