The Regional Director, International labour Organisation (ILO), Bangkok, Sachiko Yamamoto along with the Country Director, ILO, Donglin Li arrived in Karachi from Islamabad on Wednesday during her three-day visit to Pakistan.
She met with the Sindh Secretary Labour, Rasool Bux Phulpoto and Director Labour, Gulzar and discussed issues of mutual interest with Pakistani officials in Karachi. Thereafter, she met a 12-member Employers' Federation of Pakistan (EFP) delegation led by its President, Ashraf W Tabani.
The delegation briefed Yamamoto about the activities of the organisation and the status of ILO supported projects being implemented in Pakistan. The Country Director, ILO-Islamabad also appreciated the performance of the Project's team and announced more projects for the benefit of business and promoting decent environment at the work place. Further, Tabani assured the ILO representative of full support from the EFP.
The highlight of the meeting was the launching of the Online Website on HIV/AIDS. The EFP with the assistance of the ILO has developed this website while Yamamoto pressed the button for its formal launch.-PR
