The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has rejected the allegations of Chief Collector of Customs (North) against the Project Director of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) with the directive to implement existing scheme without further delay.
Sources told Business Recorder on Thursday that the board-in-council meeting took serious notice of the Chief Collector of Customs (North) letter addressed to the FBR Chairman, alleging that the PCA could not be run in the existing circumstances where a single person wanted to run a separate organisation in the presence of customs department.
Board-in-council decided that the customs officials for the PCA should be immediately deputed for launching the project. The personal comments for individuals would not be accepted under the reform process and PCA would be implemented as per new arrangement agreed under the reforms, sources added.
The Chief Collector of Customs (North) had opined that violation of rules and regulations have been committed by certain officials to run their own organisation in the name of PCA.
He further said that there was no need for a parallel country-wide independent organisation for Post Clearance Audit rather PCA being a part of customs operations should work under Member (Customs) within the Model Customs Collectortes.
