Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that PPP is the party of the masses and its workers are its soul because the party's founder Shaheed Z A Bhutto and Quaid-e-Jamhooriat Shaheed Benazir Bhutto always gave importance to workers' sacrifices and appreciated them.
He was talking to a delegation of party workers, led by PPP leader in UK, Junaid Masood, who called on him at Chief Minister House on Sunday night. The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has given his government's programme package, which is reflective of the manifesto given by the Party's chairperson Benazir Bhutto.
Qaim Ali Shah said there is economic mismanagement in the country and while accepting the same as a challenge, the government will work for progress, welfare and prosperity of the people.
He pointed out that wheat prices are higher in neighbouring India and Afghanistan and people are smuggling it for hefty profits. He said the government has taken steps to check smuggling, profiteering and hoarding.
The Chief Minister observed that water shortage in Sindh is affecting Kharif crop but Irrigation Department has been directed to ensure that water reaches the tail-end.
He called upon the party office-bearers and workers to carry the message of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto to the country's nook and corner and share the government efforts in solving the problems of people. He informed that a committee has been formed for solving the problems of party workers. On the occasion, PPP's UK leader Junaid Masood apprised the Chief Minister about problems of PPP Sindh workers.
