Former Federal Minister, J Salik, has said that minorities should be given right to choose their representatives and it is not the right of any group or party to nominate representatives for minorities. He gave his comments on phone during a press conference held in the Press Club on Monday.
He said, "We have the representation in the assemblies but we should be given representation in the Senate too according the strength of population." He also said that number of seats in the assemblies should be allocated as per the increasing population of the minorities. He added that the constituencies for minorities should be demarcated so that they choose their true representatives by themselves. Former federal minister Peter John Sahotra and MPA of the PML N Joial Amir Sahotra were also present.
