Keeping in view the accelerated interest of foreigners, Lufthansa Airlines has decided to resume its operations from Lahore very soon. This was stated by Country Manager, Lufthansa Airlines, Tobias Ernst at a meeting with LCCI Acting President Mian Muzaffar Ali here at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Tuesday.
Ernst said that establishment of democratic set up has sent a very positive signal to foreign investors and service providers who have now restarted visiting Pakistan.
The meeting which continued for well over two hours was also attended by LCCI former presidents Bashir A Buksh, Mian Misbahur Rehman, Mian Shafqat Ali and former Vice President Aftab Ahmad Vohra besides a number Executive Committee members. Ernst said that Lufthansa's resumption of operations would help open new investment avenues for Pakistan. He said that Pakistan is sixth largest country of the world in terms of population so it has a huge potential for any airline.
Mian Muzaffar termed Lufthansa decision a step in right and desired direction. He said that a large number of foreign investors have approached the LCCI to get information about the possibility of investment and joint ventures.
He said setting up the Gwadar Deep Sea Port, the opening up of trade with Central Asian States and gradual development of South Asian economic regions are all promising developments which can be exploited by foreign brand names. Any investment made in Pakistan will find its way to the regional countries, he added.
Muzaffar said that Pakistan's growing economy and its strategic location as a regional hub - a principal gateway to Central Asian Republics, large consumer market, abundant natural resources and liberal investment friendly policies offer immense opportunities for foreign investors.
He said that the peaceful transfer of power has given Pakistan a very good name and the days are not very far when Lahore would witness a booming business activity. He said all these things make a very strong point for Lufthansa to resume their operations in Lahore.
