Soyabean futures on the Chicago Board of Trade turned higher in early moves on Wednesday on concerns about labour unrest in Argentina that could boost demand for US soya, traders said. As of 9:55 am CDT (1455 GMT), May soyabeans were up 6-1/4 cents at $13.81 per bushel, with new-crop November up 2-1/2 cents at $12.79-1/2.
"While a three-week strike over a soya export tax in Argentina, world's top meal and oil exporter and No 3 in soyabeans, was called off until May 2 to negotiate, the "talks are pretty difficult," said one farm group official. Farmers threatening a second strike on May 2, which could further stall Argentine exports, causing a shift of business to the United States.
