The federal government is exploring the possibility of axing all those employed on contracts with high perks and privileges along with those re-employed after retirement, reliable sources told Business Recorder.
The Establishment Division is seeking a list of such executives from all the ministries/divisions and their attached departments for which a letter was issued a couple of weeks ago, sources added. A meeting in this regard has been held in the Ministry of Finance. All other ministries/divisions have also conveyed to their attached departments and they are busy in finalising the lists for sending them to Establishment Division.
In the wake of Prime Minister's announcement to reduce recurrent expenditure of his office (PM Secretariat) by 40 percent, other government organisations were also busy in slashing necessary expenditure.
The move by the Establishment Division is also seen as a step in the same direction. Soon, after his induction as Army Chief Lieutenant General Ashfaq Kayani recalled all in-service and retired Army officers working on deputation in different government departments.
