Punjab University vice-chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran has on Saturday said that PU students have contributed in building soft image of Pakistan in Germany, Holland and other European countries by winning best delegation awards at international model UN conferences held there.
He was addressing a ceremony that was held in the honour of a victorious 12-member PU student delegation, which went to Europe to participate in the conferences. Kamran appreciated the role of a German non-governmental organisation, Heinrich Boll Foundation, for its financial support to the delegation.
He also said the Punjab University has a large pool of raw talent and there was a need to polish their abilities. "The present university administration is focused on the training of raw talent," he added.
Heinrich Boll Foundation Director for Asia and Afghanistan Gregor Anste said achievement of PU students in Germany has opened doors for educational collaboration between the German institutions and PU. "The students have proven that they were the best ambassador of Pakistan in Germany," he added.
It may be mentioned that a 12-member delegation of university students (8 boys and 4 girls) participated in UN Model Conferences in both Germany and Holland in April. Out of the 450 delegation from 35 countries, the PU team was declared the most outstanding, as it won seven outstanding Delegate Awards and five Honourable Mansions.
