Pakistan has a tremendous potential to increase its market share in the international apparel market despite the competition from her neighbours Matthias Theis, Director Igedo Fashion Fairs of Germany, stated this at presentation on Global Fashion.
He also said that Pakistan needs to improve its image and marketing techniques by using the right marketing tools, which would help the Pakistan apparel manufacturers to attain a much higher price than what they are getting at the moment.
Jamil A. Naz, Director and Liaison Officer of Igedo Company in Pakistan, told the media men that Igedo has been organising the world's largest fashion fair twice every year since 1949. "Pakistani companies are successfully exhibiting at the global fashion section for the last few years now. However due to high input costs the number of participating companies from Pakistan has declined," he added.
He further said that around 2150 exhibitors and collections were featured at the last event in February 2008. "Around 63,000 visitors from 59 countries saw the products at various display centres in Düsseldorf, Germany, including Düsseldorf Fashion House.
Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporter Association (PRGMEA) former Chairman Ijaz A Khokar pointed out that there was no point in participating in such fairs, since prevailing power and energy crisis in the country would prevent them from meeting the orders placed by the international clients. He further stated that continued constant load shedding in the country has affected the productivity of the manufactures.
