President Pervez Musharraf has said that parliament elected him for five years and he will perform his responsibilities according to the Constitution and is ready to cooperate with the new government. He stated this during his meeting with delegation of the US Congress, which called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Monday.
The two sides exchanged views about various issues, including Pakistan-US ties, war against terrorism, economic situation in Pakistan, formation of the new government, Afghanistan, tribal and border areas. President Musharraf noted that he held general elections on October 18 in accordance with his promise. "Pakistan has paid heavy price in war against terrorism and our officers rendered great sacrifices about it," he added. The President said there was need to chalk out a concerted strategy against terrorism and all allies played their role to control it.
