Five children of a family including three girls died when their house caught fire in Sarki Gate, a thinly populated locality of Peshawar City on Monday morning. Those died in the incident included, Naila 10, Tahira 7, Ayesha 5, Nauman 2 and Usman one year old.
The father of the ill-fated children Nasrullah, was stated to be a nanbai by profession. The people of the locality have strongly criticised delay in the arrival of the fire brigade to extinguish the fire. The NWFP Senior Minister and Parliamentary leader of ANP, Bashir Ahmad Bilour, who is elected member of the provincial assembly from the locality, taking strong exception of the complaints of negligence, has ordered suspension of the concerned staff and inquiry into the incident.
The Minister visited the affected house and condoled with the parents of the five children died in the tragic incident. Talking to the parents of the children and other locals of the area, Bilour assured that the affected family would be properly compensated financially.
Meanwhile, Speaker NWFP Provincial Assembly, Kiramatullah Khan also visited the site, at Namak Mandi, near Allah Ditta Sweet House and met the bereaved family. The locals and press media lodged complaints about the late arrival of the fire brigade and Wapda people.
The Speaker has, therefore, constituted a Committee to probe into the negligence of fire brigade and Wapda staff and to submit recommendations for compensation to the bereaved family. The members of the committee are Tehmash Khan, MPA, Alamzeb Khan, MPA, DCO, Peshawar, Shaukat Ali Khan Tehsil Nazim, and Town-I Peshawar. The Speaker has directed the committee to submit its report within three days with full findings.
