Qaim vows provision of basic facilities to masses

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that he had been honoured by the party leadership with the second time appointment as chief minister of the province and would abide by party decisions in the future like past.
Talking to various delegations at Gilani House Khairpur, the chief minister said he would not hesitate from any sacrifice, including stepping down from his office, in the larger interest of the country. He said provision of education and health facilities and law and order were priorities of his government. He said modern health care facilities would be provided in district and tehsil headquarters.
He said practical measures were being taken for the provision of better treatment facilities in rural and basic health centres and availability of doctors and medicine would be ensured. He said the government was also focusing on the improvement of law and order for attracting foreign investment, as it was necessary for economic development. He said the bureaucracy had been directed to serve the masses and no recommendation or influence was now required for the redress of grievances.
However, he said stern action would be taken against officers, who posed problems to the people. He said the former rulers did only lip service to the people of the interior Sindh and the ground situation in the region belied their claims.
The Chief Minister said that present government had come into power with the public mandate and it would come up to their expectations. He said that he had started paying surprise visits to government departments and could inspect any hospital, police station or school, without prior intimation.
He said action would be taken against inefficient and lethargic officers. "The funds provided during the last eight years for water supply and drain schemes in Khairpur have not been properly used and the common man has not felt any relief due to a lack of supervision," he added. He said a committee had been set up for the welfare of farmers and curtail their losses and a policy would be evolved in the light of its report.
