Sindh Minister for Health Dr Sagheer Ahmed has directed the Sindh Secretary Health to submit a report regarding emergence of two new polio cases in Naushehro Feroz and Jacobabad districts. He further directed the Department to explain why new cases of polio attack took place despite frequent anti-polio drives.
The Sindh Minister was addressing a meeting held to review the campaign conducted for administering polio drops to the children throughout the province from May 6 to 8. He said co-ordinated efforts were required for eradication of polio from Sindh so as to save our children from this disease.
Dr Sagheer Ahmed said that to make polio drops' campaign a success, co-operation among civil society, concerned stakeholders, teachers and specially parents, was essential. Parents should be informed about the importance of administration of polio drops in preventing polio in children, he observed.
Dr Sagheer further said it was a reality that volunteers and staff of Health Department faced hardship in reaching far-flung areas of the province, but they were doing a great job by administering polio drops to children there.
