The new heads of Islamabad police have to face severe challenges in current scenario, as the crime rate is slightly on surge in the federal capital. The surge in the crime rate can be witnessed through the number of cases registered with police stations under various criminal acts this year.
According to the police sources, more than 1,500 cases were registered during the last four months while over 1,200 cases were registered in the corresponding period of 2007. As many as 137 murder cases were registered with the various police stations of the federal capital in 2007-08, while only 35 murder cases were traced during this period, the sources said.
The sources said that out of 137 murder cases, 12 cases of murder were registered with Aabpara police station, seven cases with Kohsar police stations, five murder cases with Margallah police station, 11 with Shalimar police station, six with Industrial Area police station, 11 in Sabzi Mandi police station, 14 in Tarnol police station, 12 with Golra police station, three in Secretariat police station, seven in Bhara Kahu police station, 32 in Shehzad town police station, 9 in Sihala police station, six in Koral police station and one in women police station.
Only 35 murder cases during the year 2007-2008 were traced successfully and police arrested 83 persons for their alleged involvement in these murder cases. As many as 45 accused involved in heinous crimes were arrested in 2008 and 38 accused were arrested during 2007. In all, ten blind murder cases were also traced out during the period under review.
During this year, Koral police station traced three cases and arrested five accused. Shehzad Town police station traced out five cases and arrested ten accused while Kohsar police station traced out two cases and arrested three accused.
Bhara Kahu police station traced two cases and arrested six accused while Nilor police station traced two cases and arrested four alleged criminals. Likewise, Tarnol police station traced two cases and arrested three accused, Golra police station traced two cases and arrested eight accused, Sabzi Mandi police station traced one case and arrested three accused, I/Area police station traced one case and arrested three alleged criminals for their alleged involvement in this murder.
