Kayani addresses Subedar Majors' conference

The Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, while addressing first conference of Subedar Majors (SMs) at General Headquarters on Tuesday gave out his vision and concept of these new appointments at various tiers of command.
He said the purpose of this appointment is to provide a considered and experienced input in matters relating to welfare, training, morale and administration at decision making level, through close interface with soldiers on matters, which are better understood by those with personal experience and requisite service background. Later, the COAS interacted informally with the SMs and shared views on matters of professional interest.
