1,400 bags of wheat seized

A joint team of Food Department and Police during a routine checking has seized 1,400 bags of wheat from seven trucks worth Rs 2.24 million, while six officials of Food Department have been suspended on the charge of dereliction of duty.
According to an official here on Wednesday, officials of Food Department, Muhammad Fayyaz, Muhammad Imran, Muhammad Akbar, Muhammad Akram, Ali Rauf, Maratab Ali and officials of police and district administration, were on duty at the check posts. Seven trucks loaded with wheat slipped from the check post without permit due to the negligence of the staff.
Six officials of Food Department have been suspended while Director Food Punjab has recommended strict disciplinary action against officials of police and district administration deputed on check posts.
