Supply of Super Kernal and broken Basmati to the Utility Stores Corporation (USC) by the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap) may start on Sunday (May 18) since the latter has assigned its 13 members to meet the 13,000 tonnes requirement submitted by the USC for the current month.
The association has sent a list of its members, assigned to meet this target for the current month to the USC. These members will be responsible for supplying the quantity required in their respective USC outlets in 50-kilogram packaging.
The Reap has, for the time being, intimated the names of its members from Punjab, NWFP, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Northern Areas, while list of members from Sindh and Balochistan will be intimated shortly.
This was stated by Reap Chairman Muhammad Azhar Akhtar while talking to a select group of journalists here on Friday. He said an official had been deputed by the Reap to contact all these 13 members, informing them about the quantity and quality desired by the USC.
"Our members need some time for arranging the special bags and printing their names on those bags so in case of any problem they could be contacted," said Azhar, and hoped that the supply would start by Sunday.
Giving details of the members, Azahr said that Hassan Corporation had been assigned to supply a total of 1,788 metric tonnes of both the qualities to the USC outlets situated in the area of Faisalabad, Jhang, Multan, Sahiwal, Vehari and Lahore-1; Iqbal Rice Mills will be providing 1,620 metric tonnes rice of both qualities to Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore-II areas; Mazco Industries will supply 1,740 metric tonnes to Abbottabad, Bannu.
D. I. Khan, Haripur, Kohat, Mansehra and Okara; Zubair Enterprises will provide 1,212 metric tonnes to Chakwal, Okara, Jehlum, Mardan and Peshawar-1; Amin Ittefaq Rice Mills will provide 912 metric tonnes rice (both broken and super) to D. G. Khan, Muzaffargarh, Attock, Peshawar-II, Swat and Layyah; White Pearl Rice Mills will provide 912 metric tonnes to USCs situated in Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan, Sargodha and Gujrat; Nazir Rice Mills will provide 828 metric tonnes of rice to Gujranwala, Muzaffarabad and Mandi Bahauddin.
Falcon Rice Mills will provide 576 metric tonnes to Mandi Bahauddin, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Lahore-II and Gilgit; Farrukh Sattar Rice Mills will provide 312 metric tonnes to Peshawar-I, Sialkot and Lahore-II; ATC Rice Mills will provide 348 metric tonnes to Lahore-II; and Barkat Rice Mills will provide 372 metric tonnes to Utility Stores Corporation (USC) outlets in Lahore-I region.
