A six-member delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) called on senior officers of Engineering Development Board (EDB) here on Monday. The delegation was briefed about the salient features of industrial, tariff, taxation and fiscal policies of Pakistan, said an EDB press release here.
The delegation expressed its special interest in the development of manufacturing sector in the country. It was also appraised about new role of EDB as facilitator to the engineering industry rather than regulator.
Moreover, the ADB was informed, quoting the example of Auto Industry Development Programme (AIDP), that the Board has introduced the concept of consultation with stakeholders in policy making, which could be applied in other sectors also, EDB suggested. Details of the trucking policy formed by the Board were also provided to the delegation in response to their query about National Trade Corridor Programme.
