Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman on Saturday appreciated Pakistan People's Party (PPP)'s proposed constitutional package terming it 'an important development' to further strengthen democratic institutions in the country.
Talking to a private TV channel, he however said that he would be able to further comment on the package after studying it in detail. He said the parliament was a sovereign body and nobody should dare to pressurise and interfere in its working. To a question, he welcomed the proposal in the package about changing name of NWFP province, adding it has been a long-standing demand of MMA.
