University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore (UVAS) vice-chancellor Professor Muhammad Nawaz has stressed on developing linkages and in close collaboration with scientists within and outside the country for the promotion of scientific knowledge.
He was addressing a seminar on "Canadian Animal Genetic Resources Programme" organised by the Directorate of Research here on Saturday. He also called for hybridisation of knowledge to keep pace with this high-tech age. He said that the UVAS was planning to establish a think-tank to work on new academic and research initiatives. He said that animal reproduction was one of the most important disciplines, which played a key role in the development of the livestock sector.
Earlier, Dr Muhammad Anzar, a cryobiologist from the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and Professor at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, gave a presentation on Canadian Animal Genetic Resources Programme". He highlighted various research initiatives undertaking under this programme for the livestock and wildlife in Canada.
