No development work is visible in sectors I-14 and I-16 whereas the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has directed the allottees to get possessions of their plots and start building houses, Business Recorder learnt here on Monday.
It is of deep concern that both the sectors lack the basic facilities like gas, electricity and water supply even after 18 years of the launch. Moreover, the land for the northern service road of the sectors is yet to be fully acquired by the authority.
Talking to Business Recorder, sources said that putting aside all these issues, the CDA has recently announced award of possessions to the allottees of the sectors from June 2.
Sources said sector I-14 was launched in 1993 for low-income group to meet housing needs. The sector comprises some 5,000 small plots, ranging between 25/50 and 35/60.
Similarly, I-16 was launched in 1990 for the affectees of various sectors, where the plot size also ranged between 25/50 and 35/60. "The development work in the sector I-16 was stalled due to the October 8 earthquake. It is high time that the authority should consider shortage of housing facilities amid high rents in the capital. The delay in developing different sectors are badly affecting the life of the common man seeking accommodation in the capital", sources added.
