Renowned nuclear scientist Dr A Q Khan said that he gave confessional statement for transfer of nuclear technology due to President Musharraf's pressure, Aaj TV reported. He said that his friends cheated him by saying that nothing would happen to him and he would live a happy and honourable life after his statement.
However, it did not happen and his confessional statement was telecast all over the world. Dr Khan said that now he feels that his confessional statement was a mistake and that he should not have read the written statement, instead he should change that statement into his own words. However he did not know that things would happen like that.
He said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Senator S M Zafar assured him that he could go anywhere after giving statement and General Hameed Gul (Retd) and General Aslam Baig (Retd) are aware of this fact. He said that he is innocent and he has no fear. In another interview with a private TV channel Dr Khan said that he was in custody of Pakistan Army and said that people who were opposing Pakistan nuclear programme, intrigued against him.
