Japan has decided to grant financial support of $272,725 (approximately Rs 19 million), under Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO projects, to two Japanese NGOs for the implementation of school construction.
The agreements for the projects were signed here on Friday at Japanese Ambassador's residence between Akira Mizutani, Minister of the Embassy of Japan, and the representatives of two Japanese NGOs, JEN and Himalayan Green Club, says a press release.
The project 'Improvement of Education Environment in Rural Mountainous Areas in District Bagh', which will be implemented by JEN, is to reconstruct six primary schools and provide hygiene education in the earthquake affected area. The hygiene education will be provided to 1700 students and teachers in 17 schools in the area.
The project, 'Construction of Grace Public School Astana, Skardu', will be implemented by Himalayan Green Club to construct a primary school in Skardu, providing 50 women with knitting and embroidery training and 50 inhabitants in the area with literacy education.
At the signing ceremony, Minister Mizutani said that Japan gives priority to the education and human resources development sector, and hoped that through the Japanese Official Development Assistance more Pakistani students can receive primary education.-PR
