Kalabagh dam project is not suitable for Pakistan as it creates hatred amongst the provinces, Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri said here on Friday. She told reporters at Lahore Press Club that the country's integrity is more important than a project as water issues can not be resolved by putting at stake the lives of people.
She further said that Sindh has always been co-operative in sharing resources under National Finance Commission Award. She said the current leadership of the Sindh will also play its due constitutional role on the NFC issue.
Shazia asked the media to work hand in hand with the government to strengthen Federation of Pakistan and bring the people of all the provinces closer to each other and removing misunderstandings.
During last nine years, she said, media had to face a lot of difficulties as a result of undemocratic acts of previous regime. She further said that wage board award for journalists is among important issues of the country and the present government will discharge its responsibilities in this connection.
Shazia arrived here leading a media delegation that will study the working of Punjab Information Department and share experiences with it. Shazia said that exchange of media persons and knowledge sharing are the best techniques to improve the situation and to strengthen Federation. She said media should not restrict itself to reporting only but it should act to remove all types of social evils and crimes from the society. PPP Lahore President Aziz ur Rehman Chan, information secretary Zikriya Butt and other leaders of the party were also present.
